Charlene Jensen Scholes died January 2, 2015 in Sandy, Utah. She was born April 28, 1936 in Byron, Wyoming, to Maurice and Erma Jensen. She married Charles Fremont Scholes in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on November 23, 1963.
Charlene was an avid reader, cook, homemaker and student of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was valedictorian of Byron High School class of 1954 and earned a teaching certificate and Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Brigham Young University. Charlene served a full-time mission in Hong Kong and Taiwan for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught Gospel Doctrine and Seminary and served as Relief Society President. Her greatest joy in life came from raising her children and serving those around her. Charlene was filled with spunk, drive, and a solid testimony. She epitomized love and compassion.
She is survived by her brothers Wally and Richard Jensen (both of Byron, Wyoming), her sister Lou Jensen (Sandy), her son Grant Scholes (Boise, Idaho), daughter Gaylene Scholes (Sandy), son Dallas (Holly) Scholes (Draper), daughter Cheryl Scholes (Sandy), ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Erma Jensen, husband Charles, sons Steven and Charles Scholes, and daughter-in-law Leah Hauck Scholes.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, January 5, 2015, at the Murray Memorial Mortuary (5850 S. 900 E.). Another viewing will be held 10 am Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Cameo Park building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (8945 S. 1700 E. Sandy), followed by funeral services at 11 am. Charlene will be interred at the Byron Memorial Cemetery, in Byron, Wyoming, Friday, January 9, 2015.
