Celia Romero Martinez

Celia Romero Martinez, age 87, died on January 29, 2021 peacefully in her home in West Valley City, Utah. She was born on October 12, 1933 in Antonito, Colorado to Climaco Romero and Elisaida Pacheco. Celia married Damacio Martinez on December 1, 1951.
She loved teaching elementary school for 25 years. She taught at Jefferson Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Parkview Elementary and Mountain View Elementary. She received the “Teacher of the Year Award.” She was active with her church and taught Sunday School for many years. After retiring she loved traveling with her husband and they would snowbird in Yuma each year. Her favorite thing to do was to playfully fight and argue with her sister Veva. After being blessed with 4 wonderful sons (ha) she was blessed with 3 beautiful granddaughters. Mindy, Erica and Raquel. Depending on which granddaughter you asked they were “her favorite.”
She is survived by her sons, Michael, Ken (Linda), Randy (Barbara), sister Genevieve (Veva), many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Damacio, Son David, Brothers Max and Paul, Sister Lucy.
An evening viewing will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at Mount Calvary Worship Center, 3050 South 3200 West, West Valley City, Utah. The following day, February 5, 2021 a viewing will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Funeral services to follow, and will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at the same location.
