Our beautiful baby boy, Carsyn James Hovey, was born prematurely at 28 weeks, along with his identical twin brother Ayden Ray Hovey, due to mom and babies having a severe blood infection. After only 8 short hours with his loving parents and siblings, Carsyn’s 2 lb. 5 oz. tiny body lost its battle against the infection and he returned to heaven as our little angel. From the moment we found out we were expecting twins at our 20 week ultrasound, Carsyn and Ayden have brought a tremendous amount of love and joy into our lives. We were excited and thrilled to learn that we were having twins and looking forward to the challenges that came along with twins plus all of the wonderful memories we would make as a family.
During this pregnancy, Carsyn and Ayden have endured so much while waiting to join our family. At 21 weeks, lifesaving surgery was performed while in utero which brought on its own set of challenges of the boys kicking through a thin membrane that separated them. This allowed them to become closer, play and kick each other, but eventually ended up with their cords becoming entangled and putting the boys at risk yet again and mom in the hospital for close monitoring. After 2 weeks of being closely monitored in the hospital, mom’s water broke at 26 1/2 weeks making this already high risk pregnancy even more high risk. After an additional week and a half, it became too dangerous to keep the boys in utero any longer and an emergency C-section was performed.
Although Carsyn was only with us for such a short time, he has forever touched and changed our lives. We know he is still with all of us in spirit and he is watching over Ayden in the NICU (playing and kicking away), as well as watching over his older brother and sister who love, adore, and miss him dearly. Carsyn is survived by his loving parents, Ajay and Courtney Hovey, and his 3 siblings Canyon (6), Amiya (2), and Ayden (1 week).
