Carson Koch

In Remembrance Of
Carson Glen Koch
March 29, 2001 to April 7, 2018
On Saturday, April 7, 2018, Carson Glen Koch and his girlfriend, Brayden Cassidy Eaton, were traveling between Mesquite, Nevada, and St. George, Utah, when they veered off the road and rolled, instantly killing both of them. Carson and Brayden were sweethearts who had been dating for the past sixteen months.
Carson was a Junior at Hillcrest High School and was well-known and much-loved by many classmates. He was an excellent and dedicated student, maintaining a 3.9 overall GPA and working 2 jobs at Sizzler in Sandy and as a Referee & Umpire with Sandy City Rec.
How do you sum up the life and describe the hole that Carson’s passing has torn in the hearts of his mom and dad—Chris & Jody—and of his three brothers—Kyle, Cole, and Ryan—and of his grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and classmates?  Much comfort is found knowing that his Uncle Dirk preceded him in death and was waiting for him with open, loving arms.
It is not enough to say that Carson was a very talented drummer and notably earned his Eagle Scout Rank at the age of 13. He was also ambitious, determined, charismatic, and extremely hard-working. He had been saving his money to buy the car of his dreams—a black Mustang with red racing stripes. He LOVED basketball and his favorite team was the NBA’s Miami Heat. He wasn’t afraid to tell everyone that he loved Donald Trump. He also loved all kinds of animals. His future ambition was to be a profitable entrepreneur.
None of this describes his stunning smile, his mischievous ways, his determination to defend the underdog and the unique personality that we all loved so much.
No one is perfect and Carson struggled with many things just like all of us.  His struggles made him deeply empathetic and understanding and fiercely willing to see the best in people and help anyone who struggled like he did.  He was indignant with anyone who judged others and he would tell you that no one really knows someone except Heavenly Father who is the only perfect judge.
He was and did all these things—and more. Much more. And we know he’s in a safe and beautiful place. But we also know the ache in our hearts and the many things we’ll never get to see him do or become in a life that was filled with so much enthusiasm, ambition and promise. We are grateful that we had him in our family for these past seventeen years. Hug your kids. Tell them that you love them.
A dual funeral will be held this Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the LDS stake center located at 8485 South 1000 East in Sandy, Utah. There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. with the funeral at 12:00 P.M.
