Carolyn Lewis Young

Carolyn Lewis Young passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the age of 76. Carolyn was born on January 2, 1948, in Provo, Utah. She was the oldest of five children to Dale and Aliene Lewis. 

Carolyn graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. After graduation, she attended BYU where she achieved a bachelor’s degree in home economics/education and minored in English. She also attended Utah State where she earned her certificates as a Master Gardener and Master Preserver. 

While at BYU she met the love of her life, Ralph Young. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 3, 1970. Together they created their perfect family with six children, 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together her and Ralph served a mission for the church. She also held many callings over the years. When she was not serving the church or enjoying spending time with her family you would find her crocheting, gardening, canning, sewing, or reading. 

Carolyn is survived by her husband Ralph Young; children Denise, Cherie (Ryan), Nanette (Dave), Christina (Jeff), Byron (Meliza), Chris (Angel); 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings Marianne Peterson (Howard), Sandra Miller (John), Brent Lewis, and Anet Griggs (Darrell).

She is preceded in death by her parents Dale and Aliene Lewis and her great-granddaughter Charolette Knight. 

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 12:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3045 West 5820 South, Taylorsville, Utah. You may visit with the family at a viewing on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. You may also visit the family on Wednesday prior to services from 10:00 to 11:45 AM at the church. Interment following services at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah.
