Carolyn W. Wagstaff

January 31, 1930 — March 3, 2020

Carolyn Jane Watson Wagstaff passed away peacefully March 3, 2020 in Bountiful, Utah. She is laughing, dancing and singing again with her many loved ones. Heaven is a livelier place. Carolyn was a spunky, energetic soul.
She was born January 31,1930, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Theon and Arvilla Jones Watson. She was a child of the great depression and became a wise financial manager because of it. She learned bookkeeping and secretarial skills at a young age and worked in those fields throughout her life.  But music was her first love. Her family didn’t own a piano but she wanted to play enough that she practiced faithfully on her neighbor’s piano. She had a beautiful voice and sang in many programs in her youth and for years to come. She also loved dancing, especially to the music of the Big Bands. Carolyn was the life of the party. She is remembered for playing rousing card games with grandkids, being pulled with great-grand kids on a tube behind a boat while wearing a pink shower cap, singing around the piano with family, drinking Diet Coke to the exclusion of all beverages, teaching her children to work before play, traveling as far and wide as possible, cheering for the Utah Jazz, planting lipstick kisses on cheeks, having grandsons live with her off and on, loving the color purple, and loving to laugh. The list could go on. . .
Carolyn loved the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. As a young adult, many of the mission-age young men were serving in WWII so her bishop extended a surprise call for her to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Quebec/Montreal Canada. She gave up her first love and her dream of becoming an airline stewardess to serve her mission.
She married Dr. Arthur Lynn Lundgreen in 1953 and the marriage was soon solemnized in the temple. Twenty years later, they divorced. They had 5 children, Lynette (Rand) Patterson, Kirk (Janet) Lundgreen, Lauri Lundgreen, Arthur Chris (Joan) Lundgreen, Lamont (Stacy) Lundgreen.
In 1990, Carolyn married W. Wendell Wagstaff, a missionary she had served with in Canada. They had many wonderful experiences, one highlight being that they served in the Nauvoo Mission together. Carolyn said this was the happiest time of her life.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wendell; one granddaughter, Angie Lundgreen; one grandson, Kevin Kendall; her sister, Joanne. She is survived by her 5 children, 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Gary Watson and Kenneth Watson.
