Carole Margaret Davis

May 15, 1945 — March 20, 2020

Carole Margaret Bridgewood Davis passed away peacefully with her son by her side after suffering a massive stoke to her brain stem. Carole was born in Ontario, Canada by her parents Margaret Court and Charles Bridgewood. Carole later moved to Houston with her parents and became a U.S. citizen when she was 13 years old. Her father, who had heart problems, passed away when Carole was just 15 years old. Carole took care of her two younger siblings Madolyne and Earl in a small trailer home while her mother worked 2 and 3 jobs to provide for her family. Her mother later married Lawrence Hunt and moved to El Paso, Texas to work for the Rio Grande Railroad.
Carole met Robert Clayton Davis while working at a deli with him and his mother Pat. Carole and Robert (Bob) married on April 21, 1963.  Bob had already enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and Carole was still a senior at Burgess High School. They had 2 children, Todd and Christine. With Robert’s military assignments they lived in San Antonio, TX; Lompoc, CA; Clark AFB, the Philippines; Biloxi, MS; San Antonio again; Yokota AFB, Japan; and Fairfax, VA. Following retirement from the Air Force, Bob and Carole moved to Columbia, MD and later to then Englewood, CO. Military life required many moves, sometimes renting off base for a year then moving on base for a year. Carole was often moving and traveling alone with her 2 children while Bob was in a different state or country.
After their divorce, Carole moved back to El Paso, TX, then to Lubbock with her parents. She worked at Texas Tech University, College of Architecture until she retired. When her mother Margaret became very frail after a botched neck surgery, Carole moved in and took care of both Margaret and Lawrence, who suffered with congestive heart failure. After her mother passed, Carole took care of Lawrence for an additional 8 years.
Carole joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1972. She has an unwavering testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ. Ever the Air Force wife, she always welcomed new comers to the neighborhood with food and helped with unpacking and visits. The Temple was one of her favorite places to be and she attended often.
Carole moved to Utah in 2016 and bought her own house in West Jordan to be close to her son Todd, daughter-in-law Julie, and their children and grandchildren. Carole had several falls, one on the sidewalk outside her home where she hit her head. Her health seemed to deteriorate after that, and her doctors believed that was probably the onset of her dementia. She moved into Sunridge Assisted Living 2 years ago where she was very social and seemed to have a comeback of sorts. Just within the last 2 months, however, her dementia seemed to get worse. She often mentioned that she was ready to return home to her Heavenly Father.  We know that she is with her mother, father, and Lawrence again.
Carole is survived by her son Todd (Julie), daughter Christine, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Madolyne and brother Earl. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and stepfather.
