Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carol H. Woodhouse, passed away on May 12, 2013. She was born June 1, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George William Harvey and Lola Memmott. Mom was a strong, courageous and caring lady. She never judged others and always had room for those in need. Everyone liked mom, her kindness and caring would make friends from all walks of life feel welcome and comfortable. She attended South High School where she was a member of the roller skating club. She had a talent for crocheting and was always happy to make afghans for others. She was equally skilled at sewing and making doilies. Mom would often talk about growing up during the war and having to ration food. When her mom would send her to the store for milk or other essentials, she knew it would not be good to lose the rationing stamps. Recently, she took great pleasure in reminiscing about her family and her ancestors. She liked eating happy meals and it made her happy giving the toys to her grand kids. She loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mom was always putting her children and grandchildrens’ needs before her own. It was clear that she loved her children, always accepting them for who they are and in her own way guiding them through life and difficult times.
She is survived by her three children: Scott (Janette), Cindy Woodhouse Chavez and Jerry, grandchildren: Amanda (Noel) Manzanares, Casey Chavez, Zackery Chavez, Jayden Woodhouse, Shayne Woodhouse, and one great-granddaughter: Maddie Manzanares, brothers: Bill and Stan Harvey.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16 at 11 am at Lake Hills Memorial Mortuary, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, UT, with a viewing one hour prior to services. Online condolences may be sent to the family at memorialutah.com
