Carol Marilyn Mcgavin Benson

April 7, 1929 — April 26, 2017

Carol Marilyn McGavin Benson, born on April 7, 1929 to E Cecil and Hattie Parkinson McGavin, passed away on April 26, 2017. She was born in Spanish Fork, Utah.  Carol graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah.  She served a mission in the Central Atlantic States for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After returning from her mission, she married Leonard Daniel Benson on October 23, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  They were the parents of five children: Craig, Sheri, Shauna (Kent) Putnam, Brad and Mark (Gladys).
In 1964, Carol, Leonard, and their children left for a mission to Brazil for 2 ½ years where Leonard supervised the building of two chapels.
Carol served in the organizations of the LDS Church, including Relief Society and Sunday School.  She was the Relief Society president in the Holladay 10th Ward.  She served as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River LDS Temple for almost 15 years – She loved every minute of her service in the temple.
She is survived by her children, Craig and Mark, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers Gordon McGavin and Carl (Vicki) McGavin, and sister June Kellgreen.  She is preceded in death by her two daughters, son Brad, and her husband.
Funeral services will be held on May 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at the River Ridge 8th Ward located at 1410 Shields Lane (9820 South), South Jordan, Utah. With a viewing held prior to the service from 9:30-10:45am at the same location.
Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East Bengal Blvd. (7800 South) Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
