Carol Duncan

August 7, 1936 — January 29, 2014

Our beloved Carol passed away Wednesday, January 29th, surrounded by loving family members. Known to family and friends as “Daw”, she spent her life raising children – her children, their children and countless others. She demonstrated a loving attitude that affirmed each person she met and taught them through her actions that every person is special and valuable. She lived her life with unbounded optimism that things would be fine, even during difficult and impossible times.
Her optimism and kindness paved the way throughout her life. She struggled with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease throughout much of her life, but did not let this illness stop her from being active in her family’s lives and making friends everywhere that she went.
Carol married the ever handsome William Kenly Duncan in 1953. Carol is the loving mother to Debra Lee Record, William Wesley Duncan and Caroline Ruth Ricks and an adoring grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Kenly died at an early age in 1965. Soon after starting their family, Daw was the sole provider for herself and her three young children.
Carol was born to Ruth Webster and Wesley Blaine Little, living in the avenues of Salt Lake City. She was the youngest child with two sisters, Betty Ruth Little Mooy and Mary Belle Little Miles and two brothers Wesley Blaine Little, Jr. and Robert Cecil Little.
Carol has a strong love and testimony of the Savior. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She lived a life full of love and charity.
Carol prepared food for several restaurants including the Willow Creek Country Club. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Johnson Construction. Her greatest vocation was raising her children and scores of others in her own home. For them and many others, she will always be our “Daw.”
Carol’s family members would like to thank the caregivers at Coventry Assisted Living in Cottonwood Heights and Spring Creek Healthcare Center in Holladay for their dedication, care and compassion.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary at 4670 S Highland Drive in Holladay, Utah. Friends and family may visit Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services on Monday at the same location. Carol will be buried next to her husband in the Centerville Cemetery.
