Carol Back

October 14, 1924 — July 19, 2015

Carol Richardson Back, beloved sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2015, at the age of 90.
She is remembered by her five children and their spouses: Gaylynn and Steve Bird, Dennis and Debbee Back, Darrell and MaryAnn Back, Douglas and Denise Back, and Allen and Tamra Back, and her sister Mildred Whipple. Her legacy continues through 22 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
Born Oct 14, 1924, in Eureka, Utah, Carol was raised in Spanish Fork where she attended high school. She married Vernon Kenneth Back in 1948, and they raised their loving family. Upon Vernon’s passing in 1977, Carol ably assumed sole responsibility for her family.
Carol lifted and served wherever she was. She volunteered as a tour guide at the Beehive House and the LDS Church Office Building. A woman of deep faith, her matchless energy and work ethic were utilized in various capacities in LDS wards, including as a Relief Society President, a stake missionary, with youth and primary. She also was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Carol loved people; every decision she made reflected that. It was nearly impossible to visit her home and leave without being fed. She was always quick to offer encouragement, praise, and love to any person who entered her home.
She is preceded in death by her parents Shadrach and Maggie Evans Richardson, siblings Vernon, Milton, Eunice Richardson and Margaret Carter, as well as her husband Vernon and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS Chapel at 981 East Revere Circle on Thursday, July 23 at 1:00 pm. Preceding the funeral services, a viewing will be held at 11:15 am.
The family gratefully acknowledges the services offered by Hospice For Utah and the Wellington staff that served Carol so well.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Primary Children’s Hospital in memory of her great-grandchildren Abigail Rose Goaslind and Graham Jacob Harman at primarychildrens.thankyou4caring.org.
