Carmaleita “Carmen” Arellano

April 15, 1942 — March 18, 2020

On March 18, 2020, Dad shook the world from heaven as he took Mom home. Carmaleita “Carmen” Arellano was born on April 15, 1942 to Mae and George Zimmers in Cottage Grove, Oregon. She had three brothers and one sister.
The family eventually moved to Calwell, Idaho, where she met the love of her life, Fred Arellano. They had four children, Sophia, Anthony, Freddy, and Betty. They settled down in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Carmen worked in retail for several years which is what she retired from. She enjoyed her family and her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Carmen and Fred celebrated over 50 years together.
Carmen fought a long, hard battle with different types of cancer.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Arellano and Sophia McDougal, brother George Zimmers, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred, sons Anthony and Fred, granddaughter Christina, son-in-law Ray. Her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123. On Thursday, March 26, 2020 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM, a viewing will be held at the same location. Interment to follow at the same location following the funeral services. Due to the landscape of the COVID-19 Virus, all gatherings per federal recommendation is limited to 10 people. Memorial Mortuaries and Cemeteries are offering a free live stream of the funeral service to join in and watch from your home. Instructions to stream are below. Please do not join the live stream until 1:45 PM on Friday. The viewing on Thursday is open to the public, but we will have to keep to the 10 people in a gathering at a time. The viewing will be staggered, and the funeral will be only for private family in our building.
The family extends a big thank you to Harmony Home Health and Hospice and a special thank you to Betty Arellano, Paige Arellano, Katrina Arellano-Wilson, and Selena Talbot for their love and support they showed our wonderful mom.
 
A memorial service is being held on August 25, 2020 in Carmen’s honor so all of her friends and family can attend at once. More details to come on this.
