Carla Jensen

Carla Jensen passed away peacefully, while holding her daughter Debbie’s hand, on a beautiful Easter morning, April 12, 2020. Born on January 15, 1937 in Salt Lake City to Milt and Kate Jensen. She was raised in Sandy and graduated from Jordan High School. Carla married Don Garfield and had four children, Kay (Mick) McCawley of Hamilton, MT, David (Melba) Garfield of Midvale, UT, Donna Garfield of Sandy, UT, and Debbie (Scott) Farley of Herriman, UT. Divorced and then married and divorced Jack Sandstrom twice. Carla enjoyed working as a dispatcher for Sandy City Police Department, EMT, call center supervisor and her last job as a security officer. She worked multiple jobs to provide for her children. Carla was a bit of a control-freak and was notoriously known for being late to everything!! Family gatherings were challenging to say the least! Carla adored her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved to spoil them at the Dollar Store – her favorite store. The Dollar Store, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Little Caesars Pizza lost their favorite customer. Carla struggled with dementia and other ailments and we are so grateful for Debbie along with Carla’s neighbors (Doug and Janice, Barcy, Emily and so many others) who loved and supported Carla through her illnesses. We also want to thank Carla’s hospice nurses and social workers Meghan, Natalie, Amber and Jenn from Intermountain Hospice who so lovingly and patiently took care of mom. Carla is survived by three of her children, nine grandkids, 14 great-grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by her beloved daughter, Kay; parents; brothers, Jay and Larry Jensen; sister, Lorna Spencer; and Carla’s ex-husbands. Mom is finally reunited with her family – we will love and miss you always mom!
Private family graveside services will be held on April 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates.
