Carl Lamare Shaw

Carl LaMare Shaw, “Papa,” 74, passed away February 18, 2021, from complications of a long illness. He was surrounded by family and loved ones and always will be.
Carl was born July 15, 1946.  His parents, Mary Vardella Mounteer and William Shaw, raised him in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Granite High School in 1964. He served an LDS mission in 1965 in the Central States Mission, then served in the US Army from January 1969 to December 1970. He married the love of his life, Gail Parry Shaw, on January 21, 1972, in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised their seven children and 21 grandchildren with joy and love for their 49 years together.
Papa loved playing and watching basketball, camping, scouting, singing and Dutch oven cooking. He taught us the true meaning of unconditional love by his deep and unflagging dedication to his beautiful wife. We were the luckiest kids in the world because he loved his family the most of all. He was well known for his sense of humor, his playfulness, his wisdom and his acceptance into the family of all of our friends and cousins, boyfriends and spouses. He was a quintessential dad for so many.
Carl was preceded in death by his mother Mary, his father William, his brothers Billy, Ralph, Kim and Anah, and sister Sandy. He is survived by his wife Gail, brothers Jack and Pat, sisters Vicky, Jean and JoAnn, his children, Lisa (Owen), Scott (Rebecca), Becca (Jeff), Jenny (Scott), Kevin (Ronda), Jeff (Natalia) and his favorite, Cara, and his grandchildren, Fiona, Jesellie (David), Kyriae, Brinlee, Jereck, Trent, Clara, Sebastian, Zakary, Lillian, Austen, Kaydon, Hannah, Lyra, Spencer, Grayson, Bryce, Mya, Lydia, Emberly and Brigham. They, along with his vast network of friends and family, will all miss him very much.
