Carl E. Hansen

May 1, 1937 — October 22, 2016

Carl E. Hansen 1937 ~ 2016.
Our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend passed away quietly in his home after 5 years of illness.  He was born May 1, 1937 in Spring City, Utah to Carl Hardy Hansen and Eva Sahlberg. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1955. He married Sonya Stettler and had five children and later divorced. He worked construction for 40 years and often said “he didn’t go to college but he built one.”
Carl married Carolyn Rankin Wilde on February 16, 1987 in Spring City, Utah.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Clyde and Lyle Hansen and his son Bart Hansen.
He is survived by his wife, children; Chad (Angie) Hansen, Karen (Blake) Coates, Shawna (Jeff) Blackburn, Nicole (Rick) McMullen. Daughter-in-law; Lori (Bart) Hansen Johnson. Stepsons; Clayton (Jill) Wilde, Jerry Wilde and Michael Wilde. 22 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
Carl was a larger than life man. Not only large in stature but he had a huge heart. This giant of a man was a “Big Teddy Bear.” He was a fine carpenter, beautiful artist, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved people and always had a kind word for everyone he met. He would always speak to those who served him and never failed to ask if they were having a good day. He saw the beauty in all people and often said “there are no ugly people.”
Carl was humble and so grateful for everything he had. He loved God and Jesus Christ with all of his heart. During his illness he often talked about returning “Home.” He loved the song “It’s a wonderful world” and the song tells us what kind of person Carl was. He will be missed but never forgotten. “Go with God, sweet man!”
He loved his dogs and cat. He always said “God was having a very good day when he created dogs.” We are grateful to our Father for releasing Carl from his sick bed. We know he is running free with his loving pets at the Rainbow Bridge. He is also reunited with his son, granddaughter and many others who have gone before him.
A memorial service will be held for Carl on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 am. Friends may visit with family one hour prior to the services at Redwood Memorial 6500 S. Redwood Rd West Jordan, Utah.
A special thanks to Inspiration Hospice, Jerry Wilde and Michael Wilde.
