Byron Craig Liddell, age 80, died November 30, 2024 at his home in West Jordan, Utah.
He was the oldest son of Byron LaVarre Liddell and Echo Mae Kirk. Byron was born on April 7, 1944 in Tooele, Utah. Growing up with 5 brothers and one sister, he had many fond memories of his days as a young man roaming the hills of Tooele and laughing with his brothers and sister. As one of the Liddell boys, he had a great sense of humor and loved to tease and joke around with anyone who crossed his path throughout his life.
Byron graduated from Tooele High School and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Scotland. He honorably served his country and is a Vietnam-Era Air Force Veteran. As a young father, he graduated from Weber State College and went on to have a career in bookkeeping and maintaining computers for different companies, but eventually spent many years with Norbest.
In the footsteps of his father, Byron was happiest with a hammer in his hand. He was an accomplished carpenter and blessed his family’s life as a master remodeler of every house they lived in. He instilled the important value of work in each of his children, and also the ability and the confidence to tear down a wall and build a new one in a better spot.
Byron was sealed to Louise Jones in the Salt Lake Temple on December 30, 1969. Together, in their almost 55 years of marriage, they raised 5 children and have been loving grandparents to 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Byron greatly loved all his grandchildren and found much enjoyment in teasing them and sneaking up behind to tickle their ears.
Byron is survived by his loving wife, Louise, and children, Melanie (Douglas) Cheney, Maureen (Kevin) Johnson, Kimberly (Jason) Hansen, Terry Liddell, Jeri (Scott) Pettit, his brothers, Therol, David, and Daniel and his sister, Susan.
Preceding him in death are his parents and two of his brothers, Richard and Ronald.
