Bynon David Thomas

Bynon David Thomas passed away February 26, 2018 at the William E. Christoffersen Veterans Home. He was born October 8, 1921 at Warm Creek (now Genola) in Utah County to David Bynon and Grace Rebecca Thomas. He married Carmela Young in the Manti temple on December 22, 1949.
He was born and raised in an adobe home built by his grandfather. He was the 2nd of 11 children, and has a twin brother. He worked on the family homestead; farmed, hunted, fished and “hired out” to others to help support the family. He was drafted into the Army in 1942 where he was trained as an airplane mechanic. After his army service he served a 2 ½ year mission for the LDS church in the newly re-opened Brazil area. It was there that he met his future wife, Carmela Young. He graduated from BYU in 1952 and spent his working career as a school teacher and general carpenter.
Bynon is survived by children; George, Grace (Jim) Ridges, Jeff (Blanca), Ron (Michelle), and Debra (Eddie) Schwartz; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and 1 sister. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Redwood Memorial Estates (6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan). Friends and family may visit with the family prior to the funeral from 12:30 to 1:45 am. Internment will take place at Redwood Memorial Estates following the funeral service.
