Bryan Lee Edwards
July 16, 1958 ~ July 1, 2017

Bryan Lee Edwards passed away on July 1, 2017.  He was born on July 16, 1958 to Beth Lyman and Harold Edwards, the youngest of seven children. Bryan grew up in small-town Milford, Utah, and as with so many small-town kids, in school he participated in everything. Basketball, football, student government. He was the student body president his senior year, completing the tradition established by his three older brothers.

After graduating from high school in 1976, he attended BYU. Bryan worked in the drilling and mining industry. He started his career with Christensen Diamond and stayed there for 20 years before he and his friend Ivan Radman started American Diamond Tool. Bryan was General Manager, running the business, until his passing. He was one of those rare individuals who loved his job and was excited to go to work every day. He epitomized the ideals of persistence and determination, and his knowledge and expertise in drilling was valued all over the world. As a result of that he traveled extensively.

Bryan loved to share his experiences with family and friends.  He was a perfect example of storytellers being born not made. Spinning a yarn came naturally to him, and you never waited until the punchline to laugh. The light in Bryan’s eyes as he related an anecdote demanded preemptive laughter.

Bryan married Robyn Bullock Lyons on June 17, 1989, and they had one daughter, Ivy. Robyn had 4 children from a previous marriage (Crystal, Eden, Lark, and Chaz). They later divorced and Bryan married LuJean Pierce Midgley on August 12, 1993. LuJean had four children from a previous marriage (Mindy, Shelley, Tim, and Chris). She preceded him in death. Bryan’s brothers and sisters Gayle (Harry) Hollingshaus, Mary (Gary) Weston, Hal (Karlene), Joan (Evan) Ginn, Richard, and Robert (JoAnne), indeed, everyone who knew Bryan, think he went far too soon.

Bryan loved nature and wildlife. He had an infectious sense of humor, was a voracious reader, and was passionate about contemporary jazz. BYU sports, the Jazz, and the Warriors didn’t have a bigger fan, but he loved golf above them all. Bryan had a tee time scheduled in Las Vegas with friends when he fell ill.

Bryan did everything he could to make the lives of his family better. He was a loving, supportive, and proud father/grandfather. His legacy continues through his beloved daughter, Ivy Edwards-Butler, her husband Alex, and the light of his life, 8-month-old granddaughter Sparrow Alexandra.
