Brooke Young Watson, age 74, died May 31, 2018 due to complications following a difficult surgery. He was born July 27, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jay Lloyd and Lila Young Watson. Following graduation from Olympus High School, he joined the U.S. Army Reserve and then served 2-1/2 years as an LDS missionary in West Germany. He attended the University of Utah and graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering. Also during this time he earned a private pilot’s license. He worked 29 years for The Dow Chemical Company, traveling the world.
He married his eternal sweetheart, Alice LaPriel Moon, September 19, 1967. They celebrated 50 years together last year. During Brooke’s tenure with Dow Chemical they lived in Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, and Louisiana. After his retirement they relocated to Cedar Hills, Utah.
He was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. He and his wife served as missionaries in the American Fork Employment Center and as ordinance workers in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. He will be remembered for his example of patriotism, service, love, forgiveness, faith, generosity, integrity, and especially his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, their four children: Andrew (Alison), Melissa (Dax Siddoway), Benjamin (Rebecca), and Jessica (Jason Clegg); 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson; his brothers, Brent and Mark Watson, and sisters, Julie Davis and Eileen Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Thayne and Jeffrey Watson.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Manila 3rd Ward Chapel, 3396 N 900 W, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 S Redwood Road in West Jordan, Utah and from 9:30-10:45 prior to the service at the church. Interment will be 3:00 pm at Memorial Redwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salt Lake City Veterans Hospital or Huntsman Cancer Hospital.Service Information
