Brian Chris Williams

February 13, 1930 — June 27, 2022

On June 27, 2022, Brian Chris Williams, 92, passed away at his home in Sandy, UT, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 13, 1930, in Sugar City, ID to Lewis M. and Clara H. Williams. Brian’s first years were spent in Rigby, ID, where he enjoyed the sports of basketball and track, as well as participating in 4H competitions. In 1946, Brian moved with his family to Boise, ID where Brian excelled in varsity basketball and track at Boise High. After graduation from high school, Brian earned a BS from the University of Idaho in chemistry and mathematics and an MS in public health from University of Washington. Later, Brian earned a DDS from the University of Kansas City. He was a member of the Air Force ROTC while in college and served as First Lieutenant in the US Air Force. On April 14th, 1955, Brian married Joan Glade of Boise, ID, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Married for 67 years, the couple have 5 children, 25 grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren. Brian spent the majority of his life in Boise, Idaho; where he and Joan (Jodi) raised their five children and ran a successful dental practice for over 30 years.
More than anything else, Brian enjoyed time with his family. His personal hobbies of golfing, skiing, fishing, boating, etc. would have meant nothing to him, had he not shared those activities with the ones he loved. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as Bishop of the 14th Ward in Boise’s South Stake for many years and approached all of his callings in the church with service-minded enthusiasm. After retirement, Brian and Jodi enjoyed serving two missions: one in Germany and another in Washington D.C. In 2015, Brian and Jodi moved to Sandy UT, to be closer to family and spend the remaining years of their life together there. He enjoyed so much, having a relationship with his children, grandchildren, and lately, his great-grandchildren. Brian will be remembered for his faith, his mischievous smile, his sense of humor, his love of everyone he met, and his support and unconditional love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Joan G. Williams, his children and their spouses; Glade (DeeAnn) Williams of Boise, ID, Clarin (Paul) Havig of Gilbert, AZ, Michelle (Dennis) Wilson of Cottonwood Heights, UT, Chris (Janell) Williams of Bluffdale, UT, and David (Carrie) Williams of Sandy, UT; as well as 22 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis M. and Clara H. Williams, his older brother and life-long hero, Lewis H. Williams, his sister, Marilyn L. Williams, and three granddaughters: Caitlin M. Williams, Regan E. Williams, and Rachel A. Williams.
