Brent Wayman

Our beloved husband, father, and brother passed away at his home on August 9th, 2018. He was born to Sidney and Ruth (Crowther) Wayman on March 24, 1943. He grew up in Holladay with his father and four brothers. Brent always spoke fondly of all of the adventures he had with his brothers, friends, and cousins and loved growing up surrounded by the many animals on his family’s property.
Brent graduated from Olympus High School in 1961. He served in the United States Army Reserves Tank Unit at Fort Douglas as a scout in the Fourth Battalion 81st Armor Regiment. He often told people that his favorite part of the army was the food and that he gained 30 pounds in his first month of basic training. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints near Glasgow, Scotland and always wished to someday revisit the country.
In 1971 he married Tove Nielsen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He had two wonderful children, Kristen and Matthew (Bud.) He provided for his family as a general contractor for 35 years, but his passions were gardening, metal detecting, fishing, and woodworking. His faith never wavered and he was always an active member in the LDS church. His favorite callings were in the primary and nursery teaching the children. Kids loved to come visit with him on his front porch or while he was out walking in the neighborhood.
Brent is survived by his wife Tove, children Kristen and Matthew (Melissa), brothers Bruce (Joanne), and Jon (Ursula.) and many nieces, nephews, and their children, who adored their uncle Brent. He was proceeded in death by his parents and two older brothers, Phillip and Dennis.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Please come join us to say your farewells and to share stories and fond memories. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 13th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Silvercrest Ward , 9119 South 1300 East, Sandy, Utah. Viewings will be held, Sunday August 12th, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services Monday at the same location.
