Brent Leake

Yep, if you’re reading this I’m now journeying through Space: The Final Frontier. I left this world on November 5, 2017. I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 27, 1952 to Elmer Thomas Leake Jr. and Marcile Martha Rueckert. I was of the first graduating class of Brighton High School. I served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Chile. I met the love of my life, Mary Margaret Mason and we were married on February 15, 1974. Together we had three wonderful daughters.
Throughout the years, I’ve served in several callings in the church, but teaching Gospel Doctrine was my biggest enjoyment, especially teaching The Book of Mormon. I received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in English Literature from Westminster College, and later earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. I spent my career in the field of corrections working for the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Salt Lake County Criminal Justice Services. I’ve spent a lifetime writing poetry and publishing it in literary magazines across the country.
I was preceded in death by my sister Suzie, my parents, and my sweetheart, Mary Margaret. I am survived by my brothers Paul and Mark, my daughters, Jessica (Michael), Emilee, and Ashleigh (Chris), my grandchildren, Makayla and Mason, my bonus grandchildren Craig and Nicole, and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT. A viewing will be on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00pm and again on Saturday prior to the service from 10:00-10:45am at the same location.
