Boyd L. Brown

September 29, 1930 — July 28, 2016

Boyd Brown was born September 29, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah at LDS Hospital to Roy Clark Brown and Florence Sutton. He married Mona Joy Archibald on April 7, 1956. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 3 for 58 years. He was a finish blade operator. His projects included the I-215 belt route, Parley’s Canyon; he worked on many dams, the Salt Lake Airport, and many roads and other construction projects within the Salt Lake Valley. He served in the Navy during Korean War from 1950-1954. He witnessed a hydrogen bomb test in the South Pacific in 1952 on Eniwetok Atoll. In his younger years he loved to ride and take care of his horses.
Boyd is survived by his wife Mona, three children David (Jeanine) Brown, Jeffrey Brown, and Kristine (Todd) Cowles, brother John Bell, sisters Irma (Leon) Chidester, Janis Bell, and Marijean Woolf, four grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, step-father Ross Bell, and grandson Robert William Brown. We want to thank Aspire Hospice for their loving care. Graveside services will be held Tuesday August 2, 2016 at 12:30 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT with a viewing 1 ½ hours prior.
