Bonnie Bee Sweeten Snow
1925~2018
“The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it is conformity.” Rollo May
Our beautiful, funny, incredibly courageous Mother completed her amazing adventure here on planet earth on the morning of January 11, 2018.
Bonnie Bee Sweeten Snow began the journey on May 7, 1925. Born into the happy home of parents Lila Howard and Warren Hugh Sweeten in Holbrook, ID, Bonnie took her place as the ninth of ten children.
Mom was a member of the greatest generation; seeing five brothers off to serve honorably in WWII, while keeping the home fires burning through the miserable years of war with her valiant Mother and sisters.
Mom’s beauty and haughty ‘take no prisoners’ attitude attracted the love of a handsome neighbor by the name of Gean Snow. Gean was able to woo this woman and they married in 1951 as he was answering the call to serve in the Korean Conflict.
Daddy and Mother lived out a wonderful love story and they held hands through 60 years of marriage.
Mom was an outside the box kind of lady. Life of the party, amazing cook, cloud watcher, crafter (gob it up Bonnie), water color artist and veteran smart-ass. Whether in a boat with her Zebco on Deer Creek, on the high seas with a Dorado on the line, dove hunting in Southern Utah or sitting in a duck blind at the Harrison, Mom has added volumes of funny stories to the record book of time.
Mom presented an unassuming, yet powerful presence at Anglers’ Inn for 26 years. It was here she assisted Daddy and countless others to live out their fishing dreams.
Mom always met adversity head on. When Daddy died in 2012, Mother rebounded and learned to live alone with her faithful kitty Tubby by her side. Despite failing eyesight, hearing and partial paralysis brought on by a stroke, Mom was a faithful friend and neighbor at Silver Pines.
In August 2017, Mom moved to Rocky Mountain Care Riverton where she quickly assumed the role of beloved ‘mascot’, endearing herself to caregivers and residents alike with her straight forward and unvarnished outlook on life. Last Wednesday, after a lively and entertaining breakfast in the dining room, Mom exited, stage left, felled by a massive stroke.
Mom is survived by her adoring children who watched over and laughed with her to the end.
Susan (Mark, deceased ) Hanson, Leslie (Randy) Sudbury, John Snow & Sunny (Randy) Vigos.
Also survived by 7 beautiful grandchildren and their spouses; 15 amazing great-grandchildren and an extended network of devoted family and friends.
Met on the other side by her husband, A. Gean Snow, son-in-law, Mark Hanson, parents, six brothers and three sisters, in-laws, outlaws and friends.
Special thanks to the many exceptional caregivers and health professionals who assisted Bonnie through these last few years.
No matter the situation, when asked how she was doing, Mom always said; “I’m happy when I wake up and I’m happy when I go to bed.”
Mom loved flowers, but she would like it if you took some to a person above ground.
Love you a bushel and a peck.
