BEVERLY BLANK WEST HIGGINS
1927 – 2017
Our beautiful wife, sister, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, January 4, 2017. Born February 27, 1927 in Salt Lake City, she was the second child of Annie Teola Wheeler and Clayton Blank. A graduate of South High School, she received awards in Art. In 1945 she married Howard West. Together they had four daughters. She later married Jack Higgins.
In 1963 she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse and spent her career of more than twenty years at LDS Hospital. In retirement she continued using her nursing skills to care for her mother-in-law, Myrtle, her mother and her aunt Fawn.
She loved gardening and her yard was always the prettiest in the neighborhood. Her creativeness continued with beautiful pictures she painted or drew, singing and piano playing
Bev and Jack have enjoyed their place in Manila, Utah for over 45 years. They spent many happy days fishing and hunting at Flaming George and developed lasting friendships with fellow “Manilaites.”
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jack Higgins, her brother Jay, her four daughters, Lynda (Mike) Scott,  Patti (Ed) Olson, Bonnie (Issie) Juarez, Dee Dee ( Craig ) Harris, her three stepsons, Chuck (Lisa) Higgins,  Terry Higgins, Reese Higgins. She delighted in her 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Among her beloved dog-children were  Mandy, Mindy, Misty, Molly, Meggie and now Millie.
