Beverley Price

February 22, 1927 — July 2, 2015

Salt Lake City, Utah-Early in the morning of July 2, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, Beverley Ann Cole Price died peacefully in her sleep.Beverley was born February 22, 1927, to Wilford Roscoe Chase Cole and Wanda Bake Cole in Logan, Utah. In infancy, her family moved to California, where she lived until she met her eternal sweetheart. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Nutrition from Pasadena City College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from UCLA. After graduation, during a visit to the BYU campus, she met and fell instantly in love with Jack Rex Price. They were married and sealed in the Logan Temple June 5, 1951. After she was married, she was employed by Utah Power and Light demonstrating new kitchen equipment, including on TV broadcasts – some of the earliest cooking shows on KSL!During the first few years, the newlyweds lived in Vernal, Elko, and Grand Junction, before they settled permanently in Salt Lake City,Beverley was a loving and caring mother and homemaker, and was devoted to her church, where she served as Relief Society President, Primary President, and many other Ward and Stake callings. In 1983, she and Jack left to serve a full time mission for the LDS church to the Cook Islands. Second only to raising five children, this was to be the greatest adventure of their lives. She had a lifelong passion for the arts, including music, painting, literature, and theatre. After her children were grown, she started a Master’s Degree in Art History at the University of Utah, which was almost complete when it was tragically interrupted by a stroke. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She served as a docent at the DUP Museum, as well as at the Beehive House and the Brigham Young Farmhouse. She had a consuming passion for the finer things, including antiques, clothing and accessories, and above all… Chocolate! She had less enthusiasm for fishing, camping, and BYU sports, in spite of Dad’s best efforts. She is survived by her sons Jeffrey (Trudy) and Roger (Shawn), her daughters Janet (Jerry), Mary Ann (Keith) and Dori (Patrick), her grandchildren Jesse, Jacob, Erin, Jamie, Natalie, McKenna, Alisa, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Zoe, Sophia, and Rowan, and her great-grandchildren Zoey and Henry. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her infant daughter Gloria, and her sister Mary Ellen. The family wishes to thank the many professionals who helped through the end of her life, particularly her home health care aide Maria, and the Quality Services hospice team: Dr. McPherson, Chelsea, Alexis, Tricia, and Ruth. Thanks and God bless you.Funeral services will be held at Valley View Ward (2000 East and 3900 South in Salt Lake) on Thursday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m. Friends and family may visit from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8 at the Murray Memorial Mortuary (5850 S. 900 E.), or one hour prior to services at the ward house.
