Beverleigh Jean Frye Christensen

August 28, 1940 — December 4, 2018

Beverleigh Jean Frye Christensen passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, after extensive open heart surgery. She was born August 28, 1940 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada to Roland Frye and Jessie Edwards. She attended public schools in Saint John, graduating from Simonds Regional High School in 1958. Mom was an honors student and excelled in all areas of academics. She achieved top scores in provincial testing for mathematics.
In 1960 Beverleigh moved to Utah with her mother and sister to join other family. She married Keith Christensen January 11, 1965 (later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple). They were the parents of three children: Eric (Theresa), Cyndi, and Kasi. They sacrificed time and money so that their children could play sports, learn to play musical instruments, and travel with teams and performing groups.
Mom was employed with Fairchild Semiconductor from 1979 to 2007. She was an outstanding and dependable employee and made an impression on her coworkers for her high personal and professional standards.
Mom was proud to have been a stake missionary in her early 20s prior to meeting our father, and to work with Dad as an LDS Service Missionary at the West Jordan LDS Employment Center after their retirement. She and Dad also worked at the Jordan River Temple until the time of his death in 2010. Mom continued as a temple worker until 2017; a total of 19 years. The temple was a source of solace and peace in her life and she cherished the memories and friendships she made there. She provided years of selfless service as a Relief Society president, young women’s counselor and advisor, primary teacher, ward chorister, and most recently as a counselor in the Relief Society. Having grown up as frequently the “only Mormon” in her school, she strived to be a conscientious example of what it means to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in her daily living and interactions with others.
Mom was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Cole (Heather), Charles (Jessica), Sydney, Ashton, and Ethan. For the past several years, Mom found great joy and purpose in providing before and after school care for Ashton and Ethan. Mom loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally and we all knew it
The family would like to thank the staff of Intermountain Heart and Lung Center who provided outstanding care to Mom and support to the family. We are grateful for her cardiologist Dr. Miner, and her surgeon, Dr. Clayson who worked on Mom for more than 14 hours last Monday. Thank you for your tireless commitment and doing everything you could to try to ensure a positive outcome.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, her parents, and four of her siblings. She is survived by her children and her sister, Rinda Frye.
