Betty Sarah Sturzenegger Cope

July 10, 1930 — May 22, 2021

Betty Sarah Sturzenegger Cope passed away on May 22, 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 90. She was born on July 10, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Niklaus and Sarah Sturzenegger. She married H. T. Cope on September 10, 1947.
Mom was involved politically in various elections and was a Democratic State Delegate. She volunteered at the Veteran’s Hospital in the Audiology Department for many years. Betty was also dedicating her time for the Disabled American Veteran’s (DAV).
Mom enjoyed bowling in her senior league. Her teams participated in many national events. You could find mom always watering and manicuring her yard well into her 80s. That and her house were her pride and joy.
She always had something to eat for anyone who knocked on her door, and she sent them home with homemade jam, salsa, or peaches.
In her waning years, she was affectionately called housemother at Highland Care Center.
A loving and humble “thank you” to the entire staff of Highland Care for their loving and tender care of our mother. She loved all of you.
Betty is survived by her four children, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three siblings.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, and eight siblings.
