Beloved mother and grandmother, Betty Ruth White Penman (age 94) quietly passed away at home on April 4, 2018. She was born March 20, 1924, third of eleven children, to Byron Lorenzo White and Georgia Coleman Rankin in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was married to Paul Albert Penman in Ely, Nevada on April 7, 1942 their marriage later solemnized in May 1965 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Betty always prided herself in her appearance, especially her hair. She was an active member of the LDS Church, a dedicated, hard-working, full-time mother. She was self-educated, skilled seamstress, enjoyed flowers, cooking, and canning of garden produce. All family members tastefully remember her chocolate chip cookies. She is noted for her friendly, hospitable personality, welcoming all relatives and friends to her warm, immaculate home and plentiful home cooked, hot meals.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul; also preceded by three sisters: Virginia, Mary, and Gloria, and three brothers: Byron, Frank, George. She is survived by four children: Virginia Ruth Bendixsen (Lee), Paul Scott Penman (Bonne), Paulette Ann Olsen (Larry), and Dale Kent Penman (Bobbi). Also survived by two sisters: Sally and Lois, and two brothers: Dan and Robert, plus 14 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren (with two more on the way).
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 11:00 am, with a viewing one hour prior, at the Fruit Heights Stake Center, 170 N Mountain Rd, Fruit Heights, UT. A viewing will be held April 8, 2018, 6:00-7:30 pm at the same location. Interment will be alongside her husband at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy.
