Betty Pyott Walton

June 19, 1920 — March 17, 2016

Elizabeth Pyott Walton passed quietly on March 17, 2016 at the age of 95. Born to Dr. Wilford H. Pyott and Elsie Shorten Pyott on June 19, 1920, Betty grew up in Salt Lake City, attended East High School, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Clothing and Textiles from BYU and some years later received her teaching certificate from the U of U. She married Glen M. Walton on August 14, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. She maintained many life-long friendships as President of the Nautilus Club at BYU and as a member of Agalia Mu. She especially cherished her close life-long relationships with friends from junior high school known as the “Quad G” group. She was a dedicated teacher and taught for 12 years at Mountview Elementary School. Betty had a beautiful voice and sang in a trio with sisters Marie and Lucimae. Her musical talents served her well in church callings as ward chorister. She was a volunteer tour guide at the newly restored Beehive House in downtown Salt Lake. She was an expert seamstress, sewing clothes and beautiful quilts for her family. Always a good sport, she made many family camping and Lake Powell outings enjoyable. She and Glen were able to travel together all across the US, to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico and Europe. She enjoyed spending winters at their second home in St. George, UT. Betty was a devoted mother and was always watchful for the welfare of her family.
Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marie, Lucimae and Marian, husband Glen and son Robert, she is survived by her sister Renee Carlson, daughter Marilee Fagergren (Bill), and sons Dana B. Walton (Michele) and Richard G. Walton (Charlotte) and twelve grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
