Betty Mae Conley Mason

May 3, 1941 — April 11, 2019

Betty Mae Conley Mason was born on May 3, 1941 in Clarksville, TX to Catherine Dotson Dickson and Morris Conley, Sr. She left for Eternal Glory on April 11, 2019.
She married the love of her life Billy Wayne Mason on December 25, 1959 in Borger, TX and moved to Salt Lake City, UT. The same year to raise their family.
Betty had a long banking career at First Interstate Bank and US Bank where she retired.
She enjoyed life to the fullest, especially when she was in Wendover or Las Vegas. She never complained when she was in pain and always said “this too shall pass”.
Betty was very active in the community and the Salt Lake Branch of the NAACP and a board member of the Black Education Scholarship Foundation.
She was a long standing member of the Timpanogos Temple # 483 Daughter of the Elks Fraternal Organization.
Betty and Billy were always supportive of the incoming African American students who attended the University of Utah, by hosting them at their house for dinners, parties and offering them haircuts at the barbershop as well of giving them emotional support and looking out for them. It was a “home away from home”.
Betty is preceded in death by her Parents and her husband, Billy. Brothers: Marion Conley, Morris Conley, Jr., Charles Conley, Anthony Conley and sister, Ellena Barnett.
The memories of Betty will be cherished by her children: Daughters: Cathy Mason-Copeland Salt Lake City, Kim Mason (Duane) Atlanta, GA. Sons: Michael Mason (Susan) San Jose, CA. Gary Mason (Debbie) San Leandro, CA.
