Betty Louise Jones Loveless

December 21, 1930 — July 18, 2018

Betty Louise Jones Loveless passed beyond the veil of this mortality on July 18, 2018, into the eager arms of her parents, two brothers, Ken and Don and her beloved son and daughter, Michael and Sheryl, Grandma Booke, and many other friends and family.
Betty was born to Leonard and Ollie Jones on December 21, 1930 in Scotia, California.
When she was 10, the family moved from California to Menan, Idaho.  She has had the heart of an Idaho farm girl ever since and was proud of her Idaho roots. True to those farming values her parents exemplified, she learned to have a very strong work ethic. She was humble, fun loving and even shy growing up in Idaho with family and friends.
At the age of 17, she was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation guided her throughout her entire life.  She had genuine caring for every person she met.
Betty graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1952, an uncommon degree for a Registered Nurse at that time. She met David George Loveless while both were working at LDS Hospital. They married on June 26, 1958 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.  Their little family grew to five children as they lived in San Antonio, Texas and Auburn, California until June of 1973 when they moved their family to Salt Lake City, and settled in Cottonwood Heights. They developed many good friends and lived there for over 30 years. After their move to Utah, Betty resumed working as a nurse, in a newer area of Nursing, Cardiac and Intensive Care at Cottonwood Hospital. She had the kindness, soothing voice and soft touch of an experienced nurse as she cared for very ill patients and their family members. She retired after 20+ years, and was able to spend more time as a Grandma and exploring her other hobbies. She loved gardening, traveling, family history and temple work. In her church service, she was often doing compassionate service, teaching in Relief Society and working in the Library.
In 2004, Betty and David served in the LDS Melbourne Australia Mission for 18 months as Senior Missionaries.  They will never forget the people they served and loved and those quirky Aussie phrases like “Good on Ya”.
David and Betty had lived 30 wonderful years in the Cottonwood Heights area of the Salt Lake Valley. It was bittersweet when they decided to move to a warmer climate in St. George, Utah in 2005, following their mission to Australia.
They lived in St. George for 12 years and continued to develop dear friendships there. It was with profound sadness that they moved north to Syracuse in 2017, to be closer to family.
As our mother’s health declined in recent years, our family was given the blessing of enjoying the best of my mother’s spirit, infectious love and sense of humor. My father was always by her side exchanging smiles and kisses with her and welcoming people into their circle of new friends. She and my father won over the hearts of many new friends with their winning smiles, genuine love for others and attitudes of gratitude. It was a tender and sweet time for me to spend with my parents. During the past year as she lived with us, our family was given the blessing of enjoying the best of her spirit, infectious love and unwavering sense of humor. The many hugs and tender kisses will never be forgotten, Mom. A special thank you to our children, Nathan, Alivia and Sophia for their love and support during this difficult time. A very heartfelt thank you to Tracy, my devoted and patient husband.
