Betty Lou Tanner Farley, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2017 in her home in Holladay, Utah due to causes incident to old age.
Betty was born July 12, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hyrum Tanner and Sara Elvira Eriksen Tanner. She later moved with her family to Rockford, Illinois then to Boise, Idaho where she graduated from Boise High School in 1945. After attending BYU for two years she served an LDS mission to the Eastern States where she would meet her future husband, Kenneth Farley. The two were later married on September 14, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Betty and Ken together raised a large family of ten children. Betty was a faithful member of the LDS Church, and served many years as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. She and Ken later served together in the Richmond, Virginia mission.
Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years, sister Rose (John) Anderson, children Alice (Ernie) Dawson, Richard (Denise) Farley, Steven (Terri) Farley, Diane (Reed) Bruderer, Robert (Kimi) Farley, Marilyn (Dennis) Moss, Suzanne (Brian) Anderson, Douglas (Becky) Farley, daughter-in-law Jackie Farley, 56 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Aksel Tanner, sister Janet Bylund, daughter Carolyn Christiansen, and son Joseph Farley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Olympus Stake Center, 2675 E 4430 S, Holladay, UT. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Tuesday evening January 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the above mentioned meetinghouse. Interment will be at the Holladay Memorial Park.Service Information
