Beth returned to her Heavenly Home on June 13, 2018, one week before her 94th birthday. She was born on June 20, 1924 to William Otto Thompson and Margaret Alice Pilkington in Smithfield, UT. Following a short courtship, she married Wallace Deane Mears on January 10, 1945 while he was on leave from the Navy during World War II.
Beth took great pride in everything she did. She always tried to look her best in her personal appearance as well as her home and yard. She and Wally would spend hours decorating the inside of their home and working in their yard. It brought them both great joy.
She loved to talk about the “Good Old Days” growing up in Smithfield, UT. She said that they didn’t have a lot of money growing up, but they were happy. As a teenager she loved to go to dances and dance the jitterbug. She found great joy in communicating daily with her mother and sisters. They were best friends.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Brent (Diane) and Steven (Rochelle), 7 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren with one on the way. Also, survived by two sisters: Bonnie Hansen and Blanche Read.
Proceeded in death by her husband, parents, brother, three sisters, and granddaughter Kimberly Milligan.
The family would like to thank Heartwood Home Health and Hospice and The Wentworth at Coventry for their loving care.
Her funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT. A viewing will be held from 12:30 – 1:45 pm prior to the service.Service Information
