Beth Ann Ahlstrom, age 87, passed away on April 20, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on June 23, 1937, in Norwich, New York, to Walter Stanton Shepardson and Miriam Louise Young. Beth lived a life marked by love, service, and a deep appreciation for family, faith, and learning.
She married Clair Walker Ahlstrom on October 26, 1962, beginning a beautiful and enduring partnership filled with mutual respect and devotion. Together, they created a legacy that continues through their children and grandchildren.
Beth was a woman of many talents and interests. She was deeply engaged in genealogy, preserving family history and honoring her ancestors with care and dedication. Her compassionate heart led her to pursue Clinical Pastoral Education for Chaplaincy at Holy Cross Hospital, where she offered comfort and guidance to many during their most vulnerable moments.
A true lover of nature, Beth was an avid rockhound who delighted in discovering the beauty of the natural world. She was also a dedicated reader, a committed walker who found joy in movement, and an accomplished violinist whose music brought grace and peace to those around her. Most of all, Beth was known and cherished as the “best adored grandma” – a title she wore with pride and love.
Beth is survived by her loving husband, Clair Walker Ahlstrom; her granddaughter Kristy Ann Weber and Kristy’s husband, Zachery; Kristy’s children—Olivia (14), William (16), Lucy (12), Emma (10), Brielle (12), and Brody (14); her grandson Matthew Michael Ahlstrom, Matthew’s wife Bonny, and their son Matthew Jr. (18). She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Ray Ahlstrom.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ward House located at 10975 South Prescot Drive, Sandy, Utah.
