Beverly Ann Carter

We are celebrating the life of our extraordinary Mother (Nana), who left this world on her birthday, March 12, 2024.   She wanted to live until her 95^th birthday, and that’s exactly what she did!  She was strong, beautiful, creative, compassionate, and perpetually positive.  Words that she often used were “love” and “light”.  She showered enormous amounts of love and light into the lives of her family and friends. The beauty of her presence and her countenance filled every space she entered. 

Beverly Ann Carter was born on March 12, 1929 in Salt Lake City to William Clark Averett and Evelyn Parker Averett.  She married her high school sweetheart Bob Carter on July 11, 1947.  They were married for 67 amazing years until Bob passed away in 2014. 

Beverly and Bob loved special times with family, whether it was festive gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas, roasting hot dogs on sticks around campfires in Big Cottonwood Canyon, piling kids and pillows into the car for drive-in movies, having picnics and playing catch at Liberty Park, jumping in the car for a week in Yellowstone Park, going fishing at Wade Lake in southwestern Montana, or packing up the horses in the horse trailer and going to Las Vegas for Helldorado Days and to visit grandma and grandpa Carter. 

A spiritual romantic at heart, Beverly chose to focus on positivity rather than negativity.  She was consistently present for her family and friends, freely offering her voice of wisdom and non-judgmental advice for those seeking her out.  She devoured books on subjects of spiritualism and committed to embodying learned principles in her own life and providing guidance and connection with others.  For many years Beverly participated in the Sub-for-Santa program, generously donating her time and resources to make less fortunate families happy. 

Beverly loved to paint and observe nature.   Mostly self-taught, she had a keen eye for color and light and she possessed the ability to capture the ethereal qualities of landscape and seascape. 

After attending modeling school, Beverly worked as a model and appeared over the years in several Hollywood productions.   She was beautiful inside and out.

Beverly is survived by her four children, Rob Carter, Richmond, VA, Mike (Lorelie) Carter, St. George, UT, Michelle (Ken) Brown, Edgewood, NM, and Annette (Mark) Thomas, Escalante, UT.  Affectionately known as “Nana”, Beverly remains the beloved grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.  Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, William Clark Averett and Evelyn Parker Averett, brother "Bill" Edward William Averett (Darleen), and by her youngest son Scott Averett Carter. 

Missed will be Nana’s beauty, compelling smile, generosity, and loving heart.  

Funeral services are to be determined at a later date.
