Bert L Bulkley

February 26, 1924 — May 6, 2019

Our sweet loving father, grandpa, brother, and friend passed away in Murray, Utah. He was born in Vermillion, Utah to Loyal and Miriam Bulkley and was the oldest of four children. He graduated from high school and enlisted in the army and served in Germany for three years. Bert married Yuvon Barney in September of 1948. They had three children, Leita Rogers, Loyd, and Larry.
They solemnized their marriage in the Manti temple in 1958 and served the Lord with great dedication for the rest of his life. He loved working in the temple for many years.
He worked as a carpenter most of his life and if he was asked to help build a cabinet, bookcase, shelves or just about anything that could be made with wood he would pour is heart into doing a beautiful work of art. Many of his friends and family have things he has built for them.
He loved working in his yard, no matter where he lived he took great pride in having beautiful flower beds, a perfectly mowed lawn and a beautiful garden. One day he commented that he might have to cut back on his garden because he was getting too old to prepare the ground. I asked him about that and he said that it took too much to put on the harness and plow the ground. He was in his late 80’s and pulled the plow by hand so the tractor wouldn’t pack the ground so much. Many shared the vegetables of that dedicated labor because he loved to share and always had a huge garden. It broke his heart every year when it was time to plant and he couldn’t be out working in the yard.
He was known for his “grumpy” demeanor, but everyone knew he had a heart of gold and loved to serve those he loved. He was happiest when he had visitors, family, friends and neighbors all loved being with dad. He loved jumping on his 4-wheeler and going to see his friends in Aurora. He loved hunting with his family, camping in Maple Grove with anyone that would come and share a story around the camp fire.
Bert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Yuvon, his three children, Leita Rogers, Loyd (Leandro), and Larry, 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. A brother, Ralph J Bulkley. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents, a brother (Max), a sister (Una) and a great granddaughter (Savannah Hardy).
