Bernice Lloyd Murray

June 4, 1945 — September 30, 2021

Bernice was born in Salt Lake City on June 4, 1945.  She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in the early morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021 at the age of 76.
She grew up in Salt Lake and was a graduate of East High class of 1963 (go Leopards).
She met the love of her life and soulmate Steven Ray Murray in 1962 at the Hot Shoppes Restaurant.  It was love at first sight and they spent the next 59 years together.
Bernice loved league bowling, being with her family and friends and traveling.  She visited Hawaii 10 times, Mexico 6 times, Great Britain, Ireland, France, Italy, Greece and South Africa plus traveling to many of the U.S. States.  Her favorite was anytime she could go with her children.
Together she and Steve had 3 wonderful children:  Steven born May 18, 1968, Shawn born January 4, 1970 and Shelby Dawn born January 28, 1977.  Steven preceded her in death on August 2, 1986.  She always thought of herself as a “Professional Mother”.  Being a Mom was the most important role of her life, as well as being the “CEO of Grandma’s house”.
She is survived by her husband Steve and their children Shawn (Kathy) Murray, Shelby (Jason) Asplund, 4 grandchildren Karson and Abby Murray, Rylie and Max Asplund.  She is also survived by her sister Shanna (Ken) Hart, her brother Rodney (Jorja) Lloyd, Sister in Law Elaine Lloyd and many extended family and friends.  She treasured all of her nieces and nephews and worked hard to create special memories for them. She was preceded in death by her Father Max James Lloyd, Mother Emma Lorene (Stevens) Lloyd and Brother Max Byron Lloyd.  She has been gloriously reunited with her son Steven.
Bernice was known for her kind and compassionate spirit.  She would buy food for the hungry, toys for needy children and help anyone else she thought was in need.  She also invited others to live in her home like a close relative Nick Koulurus and her son Steven’s best friend Cory Olsen.  Many thought of her as their “Second Mom”.  She will be enormously missed.
