October 23, 1924 — June 18, 2014

Bernhardt (Aamodt) Hansen, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away quietly at his daughter’s home on June 18, 2014. He was born on October 23, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edwin and Magna (Aamodt) Hansen who came to America from Norway. “Bernie”, as he was known to friends, “Uncle Butch” to family, and “Nardi” to his sweetheart and wife Peggy Pauline Ford Hansen who preceded him in death and with whom he is now reunited, left a legacy of love and appreciation for mountain climbing, backpacking, hiking, fishing, and tales of the South Pacific for his three children and spouses who survive him – Gary Bernard Hansen (Marilyn), Salt Lake City; Nancy Marie Sorensen (Rick), Herriman, UT; and Christy Leigh Tribe (Craig), Salt Lake City; as well as for his nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, by his sisters Kathleen and Sonja, and by his brothers Willard and Ronald, and is also survived by his sisters Irene and Marit.Family members wish to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful caregivers Sela, Sandy, Maggie, Tina, and Bristol Hospice.Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Emerson Ward, 808 E. Roosevelt Ave. (1455 S.), Salt Lake City, UT. A viewing will be held one hour before the service. Graveside services will follow at the Murray City Cemetery.
