Dr. Bennion Neddo Lloyd, 93, died on January 29, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 2, 1921 in Independence, MO to Archie Lloyd and Agnes Neddo. The family moved west and before graduating in 1938 from Granite High School in Salt Lake City, Bennion lived a venturesome childhood in Grace, Idaho, and River Heights, Utah. He attended Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah until enlisting in the Naval Air Corps after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Bennion’s love for flying was fulfilled serving as a fighter pilot in the South Pacific World War II. During a stateside reassignment in Tacoma, Washington, Bennion met Virginia Torma and the two were married on December 18, 1947.
Bennion completed his college degree at Utah State and later graduated from the University of Utah Medical School as an OB/GYN practicing in Salt Lake City. He and Virginia had eight children, Bennion T. Lloyd (deceased)(Sandy), Robert Lloyd (Jana), Lawrence Lloyd, Gregory Lloyd (Joyce), Karen Lloyd Spittler (Kent), Sharon Lloyd Petersen (David), Brent Lloyd (Joy), and Suzanne Lloyd Cochrane (Randy). Virginia passed away in 1982. In 1989 Bennion married Dorothy Hiss Erickson and they enjoyed many years together residing in the Salt Lake City area.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 3 at 1 PM at the Mount Olympus Ward of the LDS Church, 4635 S. Lanark Road, preceded by a viewing from 11:30-12:30. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial cemetery.
