Barbara Ostberg Williams
1931 ~ 2016
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Barbara Ostberg Williams, passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2016 following a brave battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was born May 28, 1931 in Delco, Idaho to Merlin J. and Ethel Shorts Ostberg. Barbara was raised in Idaho and Utah along with 10 sisters and 4 brothers. Although her family moved many times, her fondest memories were of her teenage years in Vernal, UT.
Barbara loved painting, singing along to her favorite 1950s music, collecting beautiful dolls, and decorating her home. She also enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas Eve, when her children and their families would spend time together at her house. She worked for many years at Varian Medical Systems before retirement. Because she had no desire to slow down, Barbara went back to work, part-time, as a Granite School lunch lady. She also began working at the Jordan River LDS Temple. Before her multiple myeloma diagnosis, Barbara volunteered in the Pioneer Valley Hospital gift shop twice a week.
Barbara is survived by her children- Michael Horrocks, Steven (Radene) McDonald, Wendy (Les) Black and Shawn (Becky) Williams; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Phylliss, Betty, Peggy, Linda, Bonnie, Arta Mae and brothers Larry and Dennis. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters LaVelda, Sue, Margie, Judy, and Brothers Jimmie and Kennie.
