Barbara Knell Garrett

Barbara Knell Garrett passed away on July 24, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born September 16, 1937 in Cedar City, Utah to Harry and Georgia Knell.  Our mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt and friend has gone to be with her mom, dad and many others that have passed before her.  She married her best friend Teddie Garrett on August 29, 1957 in the Salt Lake City Temple.  They were married for 60 years.  She was a great example to all of us kids, showing us how to love and be kind to each other.
Mom served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with many callings including serving in the relief society presidency twice.  She was also a Daughter of Utah Pioneers where she made lifelong friends. In the early 70’s mom and dad owned and operated an Arctic Circle in Delta Utah, then they moved back to Cedar City where mom was a switch board operator for Mountain Bell.  In 1979 she was transferred to Salt Lake City where she was a dedicated employee for 30 + years.  Mom spent countless hours with her mom, sister, daughters and nieces tying quilts, canning tomatoes and making Jam.
She was loved by so many. She enjoyed having family parties, camping on Cedar Mountain and Deer Hunting.  Mom loved to meet with her friends for lunch and going to yard sales.
She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father in-law Ada and Cecil James and granddaughter Jacie Jo Franz.
She is survived by her husband Teddie Garrett, children Geri (Rich) Franz, Jon Garrett, Laurie Garrett (Lisa), Misty (Jeff) Barnett, LeeAnn (Bart) Anderson and Jennifer (Brent) (deceased) Scovill, sister Shirley (Dick) Beatty, brother Kelly (Linda) Knell, 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
We would like to send out a heartfelt Thank You! To moms hospice nurses Suzie and Cheryl as well as her CNA’s Amy and Carrie.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 A.M. July 29, 2017 2030 W Chateau Ave, Taylorsville. A Viewing will take place from 6-8 P.M. Friday and one hour prior to services at the church. Friends may leave condolences by going to www.memorialutah.com
