Barbara Cordova

December 26, 1933 — September 10, 2013

Our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Barbara was born on December 26, 1933 in Dixon, New Mexico to Virginia Sanchez and Alejandrino Griego. She graduated from Espanola High School. Barbara Married Raymond Cordova on June 21, 1959. They recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. Employed by Western Accounting and retired after 27 years from Fleming Foods. Her greatest joys in life were her family and her dog Annie. She was a proud supporter of her grandchildren and attended all their games in football, baseball, basketball, and soccer; also dance concerts and competitions. Barbara also enjoyed gardening and was a Utah Jazz fan. ‘God saw Barbara getting tired; a cure was not to be. He wrapped her in his loving arms and whispered ‘Come with me’. She suffered much in silence, her spirit did not bend. She faced her pain with courage, until the very end. She tried so hard to stay with us but her fight was not in vain; God took her to His loving home and freed her from the pain. With tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, her beautiful smile at rest. God broke our hearts to prove He always takes the best.’ Survived by her husband Ray, daughter Jane (Kevin) Williams, Dallas, TX; sons Ray (LeAnn), Robbie (Cherree) Cordova, both from West Jordan, UT. Eight grandchildren: Michael, Felicia, Jordan, Marcus, Sean, Brandon, Elisha, Adam; also three great grandchildren. Sisters, Mary Trujillo, Ida Marquez, Lillian Pando, brother Bruce Griego, numerous nieces and nephews, and Annie, her loyal and beloved dog. Preceding her in death are her parents, brother Joe Griego, sister Elsie Maestas Deuel. Vigil Service will be on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 South Redwood Road in West Jordan, Utah. Visitation from 6-7:00 pm.
