Barbara Casper

December 7, 1930 — December 8, 2014

Mom left her earthly home a few hours after her 84th birthday. She had bravely battled cancer and was ready to be pain free. She was born December 7, 1930 in San Bernadino, California to Patsy Bennett and George Tucker, later adopted by Earl Gettle. She was an only child. In her youth she loved horses, cowboys, orange groves, and swimming in the ocean. Barbara married Mack William Richmond in Salt Lake City, January 1, 1949. Together they had 6 children, later divorced. Mom was co-owner of the Copperview Motel in Midvale for many years and was an excellent bookkeeper. She joined the L.D.S. Church in 1967 and held various positions over the years. In 1987, she met and married John Lloyd Casper in McGill, Nevada. She traveled around the country and Canada with Jack until the time of his death. At that time she moved back to Salt Lake City to live with her daughter, Marilee.
Mom was a very soft spoken woman with nothing bad to say about anyone. She loved to watch the Jazz, tennis, she loved the 49ers, listening to music, especially old western songs, she loved to dance, she was a talented seamstress and was loved by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her loving children: Louise (Eldon) Thatcher, Susan (Ron) Stewart, Jim (Aimee) Richmond, Marilee Richmond and Mark Richmond; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and an infant daughter.
Graveside services will be Friday, December 12, 12:00 p.m. at Lake Hills Memorial Park, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah with a gathering one hour prior to the service.
The family wishes to thank CNS for the tender care they extended to mom in her last days.
