Barbara Black Newby

Barbara Dean Black Newby, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away at her daughter’s home on February 3, 2022. She was born in Salina, Utah, on July 16, 1929, to Charles Thomas Black and Vinnie Sudweeks Black. She was married to LaVar H. Newby on October 11, 1947 in Salt Lake City. LaVar passed away on June 4, 2007. They are the parents of two children: Christine Newby Asper (Frank) and Stanley Newby.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Reva Slye, and her three brothers Cline Black, Leland Black, and Cyril Black. She is survived by her two children and three grandchildren: Jarvis Newby, Natalie Asper Pearson, and Nathaniel Asper.
Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
The family would like to thank the caregivers from Symbii, whose kindness and selfless service to our mother Barbara is greatly appreciated by the entire family.
Considering Covid restraints, there will be a small service. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Mountain View immediately after the service.
