Avalisi Tipasa Lapuaho, known for his kindness and service, passed away on May 24, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on December 27, 1938, in Fuaamotu, Tonga.
Throughout his life, Avalisi found joy in various hobbies including fishing, reading, watching wrestling, playing pool, and gardening. His proudest accomplishments revolved around his church callings and his dedication to serving others. Avalisi's commitment to his faith led him to serve as a missionary for two years and then extended his mission for an additional five years.
Avalisi moved to America from American Samoa in September 1973. He received his general contractor license and plumbing contractor license and was a plumber until he retired in 1997. He then ran and owned Vai Ko Latai Restaurant which served Tongan food. He ran the restaurant for ten years and then retired for the second time.
Avalisi was preceded in death by his father Tipasa; mother Faaoso; brothers Sione, Hauati, and Feongoi; sisters Kesaia, Losaline, Vake, and Kiola.
Avalisi Lapuaho is survived by his beloved spouse Ana Ola Lapuaho and their children: Robert A. Lapuaho (Mele), Pauline Lapuaho, Sioata Lapuaho (Bella), Kesaia Young (Michael), Siaosi George Lapuaho (Alejandrina), and sister Lupe Fa'oa.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1250 West 1400 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. A family service will begin at 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM with the bishops service to follow at 12:00 PM.
