August Leon “Lee” Orlob

July 17, 1923 — January 23, 2019

August Leon “Lee” Orlob passed away January twenty-third from an age related illness. He was ninety-five years old. Dad was born on July seventeenth, nineteen twenty three in Salt Lake City. He attended East high school and he graduated from the University of Utah.
He was on active duty in the U.S. Army over the course of three wars- World War Two where he served in the European Theater, The Korean war and Viet Nam. He was awarded the bronze star and other medals for his service and he retired as a Colonel. He subsequently worked for the State of Utah assisting those who needed help paying their utility bills and also retired from his service there.
He was married for fifty years to Marlene Devincenzi and together they traveled on almost every cruise imaginable. He was also involved with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and spent a lot of his retirement in St. George  where he could be close to Lake Powell and his many friends.
Dad was passionate about golf- if he wasn’t playing one of the many courses, he was watching the tournaments on TV. At one point he lived near Pebble Beach and loved to watch his golfing heroes play there. He played until he was ninety.
He was also passionate about his dogs, and especially his five shelties he loved in his adult life- Laddie, Misty, Charlie, Shadow and Andy who survived him.
And of course he dearly loved his family. He was preceded in death by his two older brothers, Edmond and Wesley, and by his younger sister, Maureen and his oldest son, David. He is survived by his sons Alan and Marc (Donna), by his grandchildren Bria (Garrett), Christopher (Emily), and Matt. Lee also loved and adored his five Great Grandchildren.
His infectious and joyous laugh will be sorely missed. Another member of the greatest generation has passed.
We love you, Dad.
