Arthur Lee Kilby

Our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother and friend, Arthur Lee Kilby, age 97, passed away on June 27, 2018. Arthur was born on February 13, 1921 in Hillsboro, Oregon, to William Clinton Kilby and Henrietta Edna Twidwell. He married Beatrice June Nielsen July 20, 1946 in Ferron, Utah.
Arthur joined the Navy on June 10, 1940, and soon rose to the rank of Chief aerial photographer. He was a WWII Veteran. He enlisted on June 11, 1940. He was on board the USS Arizona on October 14, 1940 and was transferred off on November 30, 1941, not quite a month before the tragic sinking. His next mission was in Guadalcanal, on several different islands. From there, he spent two years in Antarctica, from 1947-1948. Arthur had a love for photography, the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.
Arthur is survived by two sons Jerry (Kaye) Kilby and Jeffrey (Carol) Kilby, one daughter Kitty (Lynn) McEwan, 11 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice June Nielsen Kilby, Patricia Lee Kilby Townsend, and his parents.
A Graveside service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018, 3 PM, with a viewing one hour prior (2 PM) to the graveside service, at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
