Arnold Andrew Fox

February 2, 1954 — September 28, 2021

Our beloved Arnold Andrew Fox, passed away September 28, 2021, at 7:17 pm at his home in Murray, Utah. Arnold was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer 5 ½ years ago, and in his words, he “gave it all I had.” He was surrounded by family and friends as he passed peacefully into the next stage of life. He lived a life full of gratitude, with a fullness of love for his wife, daughters, grandkids, family, and friends. His impact was felt by anyone who was fortunate even to know him.
Arnold was born on February 2, 1954, in Burlington, VT, to Theodore Fox and Reta York. Arnold was raised in Layton, Utah, and graduated from Layton High in 1972. Arnold served a mission for the LDS Church in South Korea. He often spoke of his love for the culture and the amazing experiences he had during his service.
On May 9, 1980, Arnold married Darlene Miyake. They would celebrate the births of their two beautiful daughters, Shannon & Jessica. Over the next 35 years, Arnold worked at Paragon Press and the University of Utah Printing Department before being diagnosed with cancer.
Arnold was a music lover and especially fond of The Beatles. He would go on to own just about every piece of Beatles memorabilia that he could get his hands on. Inspired by The Beatles, Arnold was in a rock band in high school where he sang and played guitar. He really loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and skiing. You’ve never seen anyone who could keep their skis more perfectly parallel than him.
Above all, Arnold was a family man. He really shined when he was with kids and grandkids. His patience and love were unmatched. Even the most simple games like searching for rocks in the mountains, or unique scrap metal in the hills in Wendover were the highlights of the kids day because of the love he would show for them.
Arnold had the biggest heart which helped to teach us love, patience, kindness, strength, and courage. To honor Arnold, may we all be slow to complain, patient with children, and give unlimited time and attention to those we love.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; children: Jareit Jacobs, Shannon Jinks (Michael) and Jessica Lang (Da’Jon); mother: Reta York; siblings: Kent Fox, Tamera Fox, Kelly Siekiera (Jim); grandchildren: Ethan, Emma & Sophie Jinks; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Arnold was preceded in death by his father Theodore Fox.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Huntsman Cancer Institute for all of the amazing care they extended to Arnold and his family. Those extra years he lived were such a blessing to us.
In honor of Arnold’s life and memory, a viewing will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021, from 12:00 pm to 1:50 pm followed by funeral services at 2:00 at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetary, 6500 S Redwood Rd, Taylorsville, UT 84123.
We love and miss you already Grandpa.
