 Arlene Patricia Pope (Lene) (1963-2024) of Salt Lake City, Utah, a devoted patriot and animal lover, passed away on August 1 Born on December 16, 1963, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Arland and Shirley Pope, she grew up to serve her country and community with dedication.

Arlene graduated from Kearns High School in 1982 and joined the National Guard in 1985. She served for over two decades, retiring as a technical sergeant on December 31, 2009. Her love for serving others continued as she worked at the University of Utah in parking services and drove the shuttle for many years, retiring in March 2024.

Arlene's passions extended beyond her work and service. She was a talented artist, enjoying painting and sketching, and loved traveling the world. She shared this love with her three nieces, inspiring their own adventures.

Arlene is preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Isenhour, grandparents; and aunt, Nina Thomson. She is survived by her beloved pets, Mr. Peabody and Mort; father, Arland Pope, and his wife, Sue of Sandy, Utah; brother, Marty Pope, and wife Shellie of Hayden, Colorado; and her three nieces, Amanda Pope of Belgrade, Montana, Stephanie Pope of Hayden, Colorado, and Neisha Pope and husband, Jeff Dunn, of Hayden, Colorado. Her great nephews Quinton Bennett, Cohen Dunn and great niece Ellyana Dunn of Hayden Colorado.

Arlene found community and support at the Grace Community Bible Church in Sandy, Utah, where she had many friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate to 4rutvets.org and Rescue Rovers, a testament to her love for animals.

Services will be held August 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Grace Community Bible Church; 11592 South 1300 East, Sandy, UT 84094.
